Dear TSF Members:
Since Triangle Soccer Fanatics moved from an idea I had to meet like-minded soccer buddies, there have been lots of great moments for me personally -- winning the name the team contest, the RailHawks' first match, our first Open Cup win against an MLS side, traveling to Charleston and Atlanta for the Southern Derby Cup, presenting the Southern Derby Cup to Frankie Sanfilippo and Caleb Norkus that inaugural season and winning it two more consecutive years, the absolutely packed Depot for the wins against LA Galaxy (both times), the official launch of the supporters club as a nonprofit, and getting to take part in the on-field ceremony to honor Kupono Low's 200th match on Saturday night.
But none of those moments eclipse today. My proudest moment as a founder of Triangle Soccer Fanatics was something much more mundane.
Today, I wrote two checks.
The first check was for $525 to The Bucket List Foundation of North Carolina in honor of Kupono Low.
When we first started the supporters club, we had a vision that TSF could harness the passion of RailHawks supporters and use that enthusiasm to give back to the local community. The huge outpouring of support through your donations this weekend is the first time we as a supporters club have come together in a way that can benefit such a worthy charitable cause.
The second check I wrote was to purchase 69 TSF Founders jerseys.
As we rolled out the plans to turn TSF into a nonprofit, we hoped that we could persuade 25 of you to join us at the $100 level to help us get the formal version of our supporters club off the ground. Your response has blown us away and only goes to prove how many of you share the vision of what Triangle Soccer Fanatics can truly be.
On Sunday, June 8th we will mark another pivotal day in the growth of our supporters club. During halftime of the Edmonton watch party, you as members will vote to approve the bylaws by which Triangle Soccer Fanatics is governed and nominate two additional board members from the membership at-large. Prior to that date, please read the draft bylaws and join us on Sunday to fulfill your role as voting members of our club.
There will be many more magical moments for me as a RailHawks fan -- a future championship perhaps, seeing The Depot expand to 310 and then 308, maybe even our next road victory -- but all will be hard-pressed to compete with the pride I feel today for what we have done as a supporters club this year.
